Tu’u tu’u I le loloto evite_yb041hf1.jpeg
Delicia Sampero, In Orbit (detail), 2020, mixed media on arrow signs, 2542 x 2542 mm

The expression Tu'u tu'u i le loloto is a proverb referring to fishermen taking their nets to the deep, hoping to find more fish. It also refers to the search for spiritual transformation.

Referencing ideas around life-cycle, lifeforce, regeneration, recycling, reimaging history, memory, community, and family, Sampero's circular paintings invite us to explore constellations and cosmology, the deep ocean, the matrix of the web, the fascia of the body, root systems, windows and portals, and much more.
