Every family in New Zealand started somewhere else and arrived either by Canoe, Boat or Plane ask mum or dad about your family history and then from the items provided make the form of transport that brought your family to Aotearoa.

 

Minecraft

Meet other like-minded gamers and swap tips and tricks. Please bring your own device (laptop, iPad, iPod, Android, etc) as the library iPads are limited. You will require your own Minecraft registration and logon. This is available from http://minecraft.net

 

Pioneer Butter

Tuesday 1st October 10:30am-11:30am

Our pioneer ancestors could not go to the shops for some necessities so we are going to time warp back to when you could not buy butter and we are going to make it ourselves.

 

Primeval Goop

Scientists say that life on earth began as a Primeval soup we are going to make Primeval Goop.

 

Storytime & Craft

Wednesday 2nd October 10:30am-11:30am

Dinosaur Storytime followed by a simple pre-school craft.

 

Woven Baskets

Wednesday 2nd October 2:30pm-3:30pm

Archaeologist have found proof that humans have been making baskets for over 8000 years. Woven baskets were the plastic bags of the past made by Māori & other pacific cultures.

Lets learn how to weave our own.

 

Rhymetime

Thursday 3rd October 10:30am-11am

Join our Rhymetime sessions with songs, movement and finger rhymes for pre-schoolers and their caregivers. Suitable for ages 18 months to three years.

As it is the school holidays older sibling are most welcome to join in too.

 

French knitting

Thursday 3rd October 3pm-4pm

French knitting is a craft that has been popular in the past we are going to learn how to make our own looms and how to knit with them. If we have time we will make a snake bookmark.

 

Campfire Stories & Songs

Join us in the park for outdoor stories and old-fashioned campfire songs. We can’t make a real fire in the park, but we will be toasting smores.
