Discover the ancient art of cloisonné in this captivating workshop designed just for kids!
Guided by experienced tutor Michelle Zhao, in this fun hands-on workshop, kids will learn how to create their own one-of-a-kind artworks inspired by Chinese Cloisonné.
Influenced by early enamelling techniques used in jewellery and the decorative arts of the Byzantine Empire, the art of cloisonné developed widely in China during the Ming Dynasty in the early fourteenth century.
Using upcycled objects as the surface for our artwork, we’ll learn the simple foundations of cloisonné by carefully placing thin wires onto our emblem designs to create partitions (or ‘cloisons’) which are then filled with coloured sand and glue.
By the end of the workshop, we’ll have a unique and beautifully finished art piece to take home and admire!
