The idiom ‘Going To Seed’ draws on the links between plants and people, through the cyclic nature of all living things. This body of work is inspired by Katie’s connection with nature, place and community.
On her daily commute through rural Tuakau and Pukekohe to her studio in Clevedon, she stops her car, in awe of the changing landscape, documenting and visiting the private, public, community and local market gardens. Katie observes the beauty of the rich, brown Franklin soil, the crops throughout the seasons, the fog and light that constantly adapts and changes.
