To celebrate the herstory of the Karangahape Road (or K’Road) precinct, the Charlotte Museum Te Whare Takatāpui-Wāhine o Aotearoa will be hosting walking tours of our historic lesbian sapphic places and spaces in and around K'Road.
This includes where our herstory overlaps and intertwines with rainbow+ queer communities, including from previous generations before gentrification of the surrounding suburbs which were then predominantly Māori and Pacific working class neighbourhoods.
The histories of marginalised communities are often censored, ignored or simply not known, so we look forward to sharing stories about our vibrant, loud and proud communities.
