We’re celebrating our LGBTQI+ community and the growing Karangahape road cycle network with colourful yarnbombs this Pride Month! Take a stroll along K-rd to see the bike parking decorated with colourful yarn, a mixture of pride flags, and fun and funky designs.

Visit Karangahape Road any time during February 2025 to see pride on full display and yarn style.

You are welcome to join in the fun and knit or crochet a scarf for the K-rd bike parking, too! The scarf should be 14cm or 5.5 inches wide (not stretched) and no longer than 260cm or 103 Inches. They can then be sewn onto the bike parking in February. Check out the how-to guide here.

This event is in partnership with Bike Auckland and is part of the 2025 Auckland Pride Festival. See the full programme at aucklandpride.org.nz. More about Yarn for Pride here, or visit Yarn for Pride on Facebook.

Getting to Karangahape Road:

You can get to Karangahape Road via one of the many bus routes that travel along or nearby.

It's accessible by bike via the Northwestern shared path to the West and from Te Ara ki Uta ki Tai (Glen Innes to Tāmaki pathway) in the East, then along Quay and Queen Street.

There are two Wilsons carpark buildings near Karangahape Road for those who need to drive.
