In Whispers from a Tree, Simich prepares and prints leaves from the Ginkgo Biloba tree to create a series of single edition monotype prints.
Through ritualized inking and layering, she creates a visual language, building compositions over time. These layers re-present memory and spirit, revealing motifs, inter-cultural stories, and biological cycles.
Each embossed mark captures the paradox of transience and longevity, highlighting connections between past and present.
For the 80th-year memorial, she includes works made with leaves from the descendants of Hiroshima’s surviving Ginkgo trees, sacred symbols of hope, peace, and resilience.
