This exhibition celebrates the gogo, or frigate bird, with two timber sculptures made from salvaged rimu and matai.
Revered as messengers and navigational guides, the gogo symbolizes journeys across the Pacific. 'Out to Sea' depicts the gogo in light blue, capturing its adventurous spirit and the search for belonging. 'Back to Land' uses deep blue shades, reflecting the bird’s safe return over the night sea.
These sculptures highlight the bird's connection to the ocean and its role as a symbol of safe homecoming, inviting reflection on personal travels and the joy of returning home.
Opening Event: Wednesday 2 April, 5pm-7pm
