Whakatōnga ā Te Muri: Don’t miss this special opportunity to visit a stunning spot that’s usually closed to private vehicles! Join the Mahurangi Land Restoration Programme (MLRP) for a fun and rewarding day out in nature. Bring your whānau and friends to help plant native trees, enjoy a relaxed morning tea and sausage sizzle, and be part of our final celebration at this magical site.
Over the years, with the help of awesome volunteers, we have planted thousands of native plants as part of our stream enhancement project. This project has involved reshaping and restoring the stream to a more natural state to improve its ability to manage runoff and support local biodiversity.
Our aim on Sunday, 18 May, is to get another 1800 plants in the ground. Bring:
- clean, sturdy footwear
- weather-appropriate clothing (event will go ahead unless torrential rain)
- a drink bottle
All planting equipment is provided.
Transport to Te Muri Regional Park is by bus only (limited to 24 pax per bus):
- first bus leaves Pūhoi Pioneers Memorial Park 9:00am
- second bus leaves 9:45am
- sausage sizzle is at 12:30pm
- first bus returning to Puhoi leaves Te Muri 1:00pm
- second bus leaves 1:45pm
