Maurizio De Pietro - Zero Hunger
Auckland Festival of Photography is proud to present Karl Mancini’s ‘Healthy Poison’ exhibition, Hiroaki Hasumi’s ‘Lost Forest’ exhibition and Maurizio Di Pietro's ‘ZERO HUNGER’ exhibition as part of the 'Sustain’ [Tautīnei] theme - in partnership with the Indian Photo Festival 2024 open call programme.
Healthy Poison shows the beaches of Thailand are crowded with fishermen who head towards the sea at dawn in search of jellyfish. Nets are cast, catching thousands of these creatures, and the price is high. But jellyfish fishing has a significant environmental impact.
'Lost Forest - The Other Side of Decarbonization' is a drone project by Japanese artist Hiroaki Hasumi that focuses on the negative environmental impact of modern energy policies in Japan.
Zero Hunger is a documentary series about the experimental use of insect-based foods, which aims to break the silence surrounding these potential solutions, bringing this conversation out of the confines of academia and inspiring action against the growing food insecurity aggravated by climate change.
