A Splash of Time and Place is a vibrant and exploratory exhibition that captures the ever-shifting focus of a curious and restless mind. This body of work is an unapologetic experiment in colour and subject matter, weaving together birds, vintage objects, New Zealand’s flora and fauna, kitchen scenes, and evocative landscapes. Each piece reflects a fleeting fascination, a moment in time, or a place held in memory.
Rather than adhering to a singular theme or narrative, the exhibition celebrates artistic freedom and the joy of following inspiration wherever it leads. The result is a dynamic collection that feels spontaneous yet thoughtfully composed—a visual diary of sorts, bursting with life and colour.
Priyanka is a self-taught artist originally from India, now based in Auckland,New Zealand for the past 14 years. By day, she works as a Software QA analyst; by night, she transforms into a colour-loving painter whose work reflects a rich blend of experiences and inspirations.
Her journey as an artist has been shaped by informal weekend workshops and beloved mentors—most notably Saptam Panja, her childhood art teacher in India, and Richard & Diana Moore of Moor Fine Arts in New Zealand. Though she continues to define her artistic voice, Priyanka’s work is instantly recognisable by its bold palette and sincere storytelling.
Unbound by a specific style, Priyanka allows her subjects to lead the way. Whether she’s painting a quiet vintage telephone or a vibrant tūī in mid-song, her intuitive use of colour and form creates art that is both playful and poignant.
