Meeting at (Waitematā) Britomart, the site of Auckland's first railway station, we use our HOP Cards to ride the trains to explore the Western and Onehunga lines and learn about the trains and infrastructure that took our ancestors to picnic, play, and to pass away.
Join your Railway Enthusiasts Society Tour Guide, Alan Verry and learn about the history of stations and signal boxes, spot remnants of platforms no longer used, view lineside infrastructure from bygone eras, and visit historic buildings, including New Zealand's oldest remaining wooden station.
Enjoy a coffee en route and enjoy presentations of old photos, drawings, and plans.
Learn how the Onehunga line helped connect Auckland to Wellington. The tour will be approximately 4 - 4.5 hours in duration.
