Papakura Skatepark has had a makeover and is now bigger, better and with a lot more fun features for skaters to enjoy.

The revamped skatepark at Ray Small Park was reopened on the weekend (5 May) and was put to the test by those participating in the last round of the Out & About Auckland skate series.

Papakura Local Board Chair Brent Catchpole says it had been a long time coming.

"The refurbishment of this site was something we said needed to happen about five years ago but for a variety of reasons the work was delayed so I am really pleased to be here and see it completed."

The well-used park has been extended to double the skating surface as well as include 20 new features.

There is also a new half court for basketball, new seating and a water fountain.
