Let’s deal to graffiti together

Graffiti vandalism (tagging) is a community issue that can damage civic pride, encourage other types of crime and create the perception an area is unsafe. A strong community response sends the clear message to those involved that graffiti vandalism will not be tolerated.

Auckland Council will remove graffiti vandalism on residential or business property if the tagging is on a wall, fence, structure or garage door which is adjacent to the road. The council will also remove any tagging that is on public property.

“We have zero tolerance for graffiti vandalism in the Auckland region,” says Auckland Council’s Community Safety Programme Manager, Brian Taylor.

Our Adopt-a-Spot programme is another great way for community volunteers to take ownership of an area in their neighbourhood, and keep it free of graffiti vandalism.

We’ll supply the paint, brushes and other equipment to volunteers as needed. The programme is available to individuals and groups, and the area you adopt can be as small or as big as you wish.
