Blaze a trail at Sanders Reserve
The Faraway Tree features carvings that depict the history of Sanders Reserve.

Spanning 41 acres, Sanders Reserve is a great spot for enjoying the outdoors this summer. Pack a picnic and enjoy the stunning views of the Waitematā Harbour before heading off on one of the walking tracks.

The multi-use reserve also has 22 kilometres of mountain bike trails, a separate horse-riding trail and a fenced off-leash dog exercise area so the pooch can enjoy a run around too.

One of the gems of Sanders Park is the Faraway Tree, an old macrocarpa which has been carved to depict an enchanting visual story about the history of the park. It features depictions of animal heads, waka, fish and significant local people including former land owner George Sanders. It even has a trunk cave big enough for adults to crawl into.

You’ll find Sanders Reserve on Sanders Road, Pāremoremo, just 30 minutes from central Auckland.
