Personality:

 

Happy, energetic and full of curiosity, Athena is ready to take on the world. 

 

Athena is a fun, full on girl who is absolutely convinced the whole world is there for her to investigate! She loves people, pats and treats, and once she tunes into you, she is surprisingly quick to learn. She is working hard on her sit, stay and calm training, and we are starting to see her settle faster after high excitement outings.
She also loves a good Kong as enrichment, although apparently shoes are the ultimate prize and she has made it her personal mission to steal as many as possible!

 

Tamariki – Any age provided correct intros and supervision.
Cats – Confident cats with proper intros and training.

Kūri – Friendly. Ongoing socialisation needed.
Stock/poultry – Seems ok around stock. Will need further training and supervision.
Size – Currently 8.2kgs. Likely to mature large in size.

 

Ideal home:

 

Athena is looking for an active family who will continue her training, introduce her to new experiences and help her grow into the very best version of herself. In return, she'll bring endless smiles, plenty of laughs and a lifetime of love. A toy box that never runs empty wouldn't hurt either.

 

She is still learning her manners, particularly when she gets excited around other dogs and during play, so continued training and guidance will be important. Athena is the sort of pup who will keep you laughing, keep you busy and probably keep your belongings on their toes!

If Athena sounds like the perfect fit for your home, we’d love to hear from you. Just contact the Pukekohe team to arrange to meet. To apply, simply email the Pukekohe team with the dog’s name and a completed application form (PDF 855kb)

The adoption fee is $450 ($350 for dogs 7+ years old), which includes:

  • Vet check
  • First vaccination (including Lepto and Kennel Cough)
  • Microchipping
  • De-sexing
  • Registration
  • Bath
  • Flea and worm treatment
  • 1-month free accident cover from Pet-n-Sur

Things you need to know:

  • All members of the family  - including dogs -  are required to come to a meet & greet appointment if selected in the adoption process. This includes out of Aucklanders.
  • A fully fenced section or outside containment will be needed to pass a property inspection.
  • We aim to find the best home for each dog, so adopting a dog is not on a first-in-first-served basis.
  • If you are unsuccessful, we will keep your application on file for 6 months or may suggest another dog that is suited to your application.
