Personality:
Chicago is the sweetest little Velcro dog who is ready to cherish his person with all his heart. He can be a little shy at first and would benefit from some confidence building, but once he knows you, he is happy to soak up all the attention he can get. People, dogs, cats... honestly, anyone willing to love him is acceptable in Chicago’s books! He loves treats, takes them gently and is keen to please, making him a lovely boy to continue training with. He listens well to gentle corrections and is eager to learn.
Tamariki – 5+ to help build his confidence.
Cats – Ok with cats provided proper intros and training.
Kūri – Shows timid/appeasement behaviours. more socialisation needed.
Stock/poultry – Untested.
Size – Currently 28.3kgs and is almost fully grown.
Ideal home:
Chicago will thrive in a calm, quiet home with someone who understands dogs and can give him the time and patience he needs to build his confidence. Previous dog experience would be ideal, along with a commitment to ongoing training, socialisation and helping him experience the wider world at his own pace. In return, you will have a devoted little shadow who is more than ready to make you his favourite person.
He is the kind of boy who wants his person close, his heart full and his days filled with love. If you are looking for a best friend who will adore you wholeheartedly, Chicago might just be your perfect match.

The adoption fee is $450 ($350 for dogs 7+ years old), which includes:
- Vet check
- First vaccination (including Lepto and Kennel Cough)
- Microchipping
- De-sexing
- Registration
- Bath
- Flea and worm treatment
- 1-month free accident cover from Pet-n-Sur
Things you need to know:
- All members of the family - including dogs - are required to come to a meet & greet appointment if selected in the adoption process. This includes out of Aucklanders.
- A fully fenced section or outside containment will be needed to pass a property inspection.
- We aim to find the best home for each dog, so adopting a dog is not on a first-in-first-served basis.
- If you are unsuccessful, we will keep your application on file for 6 months or may suggest another dog that is suited to your application.
