If you've ever wondered what happens when you mix a Mastiff, a Chow Chow and a sprinkle of Chewbacca... meet Copper. We can't say exactly what's in his family tree, but whatever the recipe, the result is one incredibly unique and lovable boy. Beneath all that fluff is a giant softie who likes to take life at his own pace. Copper is happiest in a calm environment and has a gentle nature that's impossible not to adore. While he's usually pretty chilled out, he can get a little excited around other dogs as he's still learning how to navigate the world. Life hasn't taught Copper much yet. Toys are still a mystery, "sit" means absolutely nothing to him, and he's only just discovering what it means to simply be a dog. He has recently been treated for an ear infection and is responding well to all the love, care and medication he's receiving. Due to this, he will not be available to meet until 23/07 at the earliest.
Tamariki – 10+ as he is learning good manners and boundaries.
Cats – No cats.
Kūri – Boisterous and bold. He needs to learn good manners but is friendly... just a bit too friendly.
Stock/poultry – Untested.
Size – Currently 28.3kgs and is fully grown.
Ideal home:
Copper is searching for a patient family who will let him blossom in his own time. A quiet home with plenty of encouragement, positive training and understanding will help this gentle giant grow in confidence. Ongoing training and positive socialisation with other dogs will be an important part of his journey, helping him build confidence and learn appropriate canine manners. He would likely thrive with a calm, confident doggy sibling who can show him the ropes and help him discover that life is actually pretty fun. Every day with Copper is another chance to watch him learn something new, and there's something incredibly special about being the person who helps him realise just how wonderful the world can be.

The adoption fee is $450, which includes:
- Vet check
- First vaccination (including Lepto and Kennel Cough)
- Microchipping
- De-sexing
- Registration
- Bath
- Flea and worm treatment
- 1-month free accident cover from Pet-n-Sur
Things you need to know:
- All members of the family - including dogs - are required to come to a meet & greet appointment if selected in the adoption process. This includes out of Aucklanders.
- A fully fenced section or outside containment will be needed to pass a property inspection.
- We aim to find the best home for each dog, so adopting a dog is not on a first-in-first-served basis.
- If you are unsuccessful, we will keep your application on file for 6 months or may suggest another dog that is suited to your application.
