Personality:

 

This handsome lad enjoys affection and cuddles, but likes to get to know people at his own pace. A thoughtful and sensitive boy, Dan Carter can seem a little aloof at first, but once you've earned his trust, you'll discover a loyal companion who loves being close to his people.

He can be a little stressy and is still learning how to relax and enjoy life. Dan doesn't quite know what to do with toys or playtime yet. With patience, kindness, and a safe place to call home, he's already showing that he's ready to blossom into a confident and happy dog.

Tamariki – 10+ as he needs to build confidence and have consistent handling.
Cats – No cats.

Kūri – Can be a bit rude, but takes correction. Needs more exposure.
Stock/poultry – Untested.
Size – Currently 24.4kgs and is fully grown.

Dan Carter would love an experienced home that understands the importance of building a bond and letting him settle in at his own speed. Ongoing training, socialisation and support with his leash manners will help him continue to grow. In return, you'll get the privilege of watching a special dog come out of his shell, gain confidence and discover the joy of simply being a dog. The connection you build with Dan won't happen overnight, but for the right person, it will be incredibly rewarding ❤️

The adoption fee is $450, which includes:

  • Vet check
  • First vaccination (including Lepto and Kennel Cough)
  • Microchipping
  • De-sexing
  • Registration
  • Bath
  • Flea and worm treatment
  • 1-month free accident cover from Pet-n-Sur

Things you need to know:

  • All members of the family  - including dogs -  are required to come to a meet & greet appointment if selected in the adoption process. This includes out of Aucklanders.
  • A fully fenced section or outside containment will be needed to pass a property inspection.
  • We aim to find the best home for each dog, so adopting a dog is not on a first-in-first-served basis.
  • If you are unsuccessful, we will keep your application on file for 6 months or may suggest another dog that is suited to your application.
