About Ruakākā

  • American Staffordshire Terrier
  • Male
  • Good with children
  • 2 years and 5 months
  • Can live with other dogs
  • Pukekohe Adoption and Education Centre

Personality:

Ruakākā is such a big softie. He is pretty chill and not phased by much. He loves his toys and will happily lie in the sun chewing on them and throwing them around. He is a smart boy and is treat orientated which makes training sessions fun and productive.

Tamariki – 5+ and dog savvy just due to his size.
Cats – Needs testing.

Kūri – Not really interested in other dogs, would do better as an only dog.
Stock/poultry – Untested.
Size –  Currently 37.2kgs and is fully grown.

Ideal home:

This strapping lad is looking for an active home that will provide him with good boundaries, enrichment and play time along with a good level of exercise. Breed or XL dog experience is preferred. This guy just needs a home that will love him, let him be part of life’s activities and shower him with affection and toys!

Are you ready to have this XL teddy bear in your life?

Ready to meet or adopt?

If Ruakākā sounds like the perfect fit for your home, we’d love to hear from you. Just contact the Pukekohe team to arrange to meet. To apply, simply email the Pukekohe team with the dog’s name and a completed application form (PDF 855kb)

The adoption fee is $450, which includes:

  • Vet check
  • First vaccination (including Lepto and Kennel Cough)
  • Microchipping
  • De-sexing
  • Registration
  • Bath
  • Flea and worm treatment
  • 1-month free accident cover from Pet-n-Sur

Things you need to know:

  • All members of the family  - including dogs -  are required to come to a meet & greet appointment if selected in the adoption process. This includes out of Aucklanders.
  • A fully fenced section or outside containment will be needed to pass a property inspection.
  • We aim to find the best home for each dog, so adopting a dog is not on a first-in-first-served basis.
  • If you are unsuccessful, we will keep your application on file for 6 months or may suggest another dog that is suited to your application.
