About Velvet

  • Australian Cattle, American Pit Bull Terrier
  • Female
  • Good with children
  • 1 year and 11 months
  • Pukekohe Adoption and Education Centre

Personality:

Velvet is a sweet girl with a soft heart and a whole lot of charm. She absolutely adores pats and scratches anywhere she can get them, and once she warms up her cheeky, playful side starts to shine through. She’s affectionate, engaging, and loves being part of your world, especially if that includes plenty of attention and time together. Velvet knows her basic commands and enjoys showing them off.

Tamariki – 10+ as she is super sweet but can be bouncy.
Cats – Not yet assessed.

Kūri – Initially stiff when meeting but settles well, better as an only dog.
Stock/poultry – Untested.
Size – Currently26.3kgs and is fully grown.

Ideal home:

Velvet will thrive in an experienced home that understands confident, playful dogs and can continue her training journey. She can be a bit dominant with other dogs, so she is best suited to a no dog home where she can soak up all the love and not have to share her space. With the right guidance, consistency, and enrichment, she will blossom into a wonderfully devoted companion who is equal parts cuddle buddy and spirited best friend.

Velvet is ready to wrap her paws around your heart and never let go.

Ready to meet or adopt?

If Velvet sounds like the perfect fit for your home, we’d love to hear from you. Just contact the Pukekohe team to arrange to meet. To apply, simply email the Pukekohe team with the dog’s name and a completed application form (PDF 855kb)

Things you need to know:

  • All members of the family  - including dogs -  are required to come to a meet & greet appointment if selected in the adoption process. This includes out of Aucklanders.
  • A fully fenced section or outside containment will be needed to pass a property inspection.
  • We aim to find the best home for each dog, so adopting a dog is not on a first-in-first-served basis.
  • If you are unsuccessful, we will keep your application on file for 6 months or may suggest another dog that is suited to your application.
