Join us for an audio described tour for Blind and Low Vision visitors through Pop to Present: American Art from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

Led by Volunteer Guide Suzanne and audio described by Nicola Owen of Audio Described Aotearoa, this 90 minute tour offers an accessible and welcoming experience for visitors wanting to engage closely with the exhibition’s artworks. The tour is limited to 13 people. Two sighted companions will be available, courtesy of Blind Low Vision NZ.

Pop to Present invites audiences to explore identity, power and representation through 52 vivid and influential works spanning eight decades of American art. Featuring artists such as Andy Warhol, Alma Thomas, Roy Lichtenstein, and Jaune Quick to See Smith, the exhibition highlights Abstract Expressionism, Pop, Minimalism and more.

From Jackson Pollock’s iconic drip painting to Alison Saar’s expressive sculptural forms, the show reveals the innovations and voices that have shaped American art since 1945, including significant contributions by women, African American and Indigenous artists.

Bookings for the Audio Described Tour are essential and limited to 13 places. Please book your place/s via the link. If you are attending with a sighted companion, book tickets for them also – please note there is capacity for only one sighted companion per purchase. If you hold a Gallery membership, please have your membership number ready when booking.
