Got a beloved sweater with a pesky moth hole? A favourite pair of jeans with a blowout, or a childhood teddy bear in need of minor surgery? Don't toss them out - bring them back to life at our Mending Circle!

Whether you’re a seasoned stitcher or don't even know how to thread a needle, this is your invite to slow down, repair your gear and hang out with an awesome community of like-minded people. Swap knowledge, tips and tricks, stories, and thread colours with your neighbour while extending the life of your beloved garments, soft toys, bags and more.

Sewing and mending experts will be on hand to help with techniques and give advice. Bring appropriate tools if you have them, or use the tools and sewing machines available in house.

The vibe is relaxed and social! Feel free to drop in or stay for the whole time. We’ll be gathered around a large workshop table, but if you prefer to get cosy, we have a comfy couch to sink into (please note it’s near the kids area).

We will have tea, coffee, and light nibbles on hand. If you’d like to bring a snack or beverage to share with the group, contributions are always very welcome!

When:

This is a regular, bi-monthly (every two months) event, running on the 3rd Friday of April, June, August, October and December.

What to bring:

Your mending pile! Optional - your preferred mending tools, a snack to share.

Getting here:

Bus stops on Ponsonby Rd (InnerLink, 20, 105, 106, 866), Great North Rd (11T/W, 18, 20, 195), and Karangahape Rd (WX1).

We are also near the northwestern cycleway. You can lock your bike to our sign out front or bring it inside.

Limited free parking is available next door (we have permission during our open hours) or on side streets. There is no parking in front of ALoT/Hackland.

Accessibility:

Please note there is a small step at our front door, please let our volunteers know if you need help getting inside the building.

Children:

You are welcome to bring your children, please supervise them closely as we do have dangerous tools around. We have a small area for children to play, and have toys and drawing supplies.
