Looking For The Ox , By Tenshō Shūbun

Enjoy weekly multimedia lectures and join discussions on concepts like desire, suffering, awakening and redemption.

Through an exploration of the poetry and philosophy of the 'Ten Ox-Herding Pictures' classical Chinese artworks, students will gain new perspectives on life and the artistic process.

Facilitator Stefan Grace is an agnostic scholar who graduated from Komazawa University in Tokyo with a Japanese language PhD thesis in Buddhist studies that explores the influence of classical Chinese Chan/Zen scripture on 20th century Japanese philosophy.

His writing focuses on the intersection between religious doctrine, nationalist propaganda and post-modern thought.

The classes will generally be sequential but will be designed to be standalone, allowing participants to attend any or all sessions.

The content is aimed at an adult audience. The venue has onsite parking and is accessible by public transport.
