Come along for a community planting along the Waitahurangi Awa at Te Kōtuitanga (Olympic Park), New Lynn.
This year, we celebrate Matariki through the theme Matariki herenga waka - a time to come together as a community, honouring our shared connections to place, people and the environment.
As we plant along the awa, we reflect on Matariki as a time of renewal - remembering the past, celebrating the present, and preparing for the year ahead. Together, we’ll contribute to a healthier stream and a more resilient neighbourhood.
The native plants we put into the ground will help stabilise stream banks, slow water flow during heavy rain, reduce flood impacts and provide habitat for native wildlife.
All ages are welcome, however children must be supported by an adult. Please wear sturdy closed-toe footwear, ideally gumboots.
Meet at EcoMatters Environment Trust, 1 Olympic Place, New Lynn.
Hosted by EcoMatters Environment Trust. Ngā mihi to Whau Local Board for their support.
