Mokuhanga, the Japanese method of water-based woodblock printing, is best known for the iconic ukiyo-e prints of Japan’s Edo period. 

In this course, you’ll be introduced to the fundamentals of this sustainable and low-tech printmaking technique. 

You’ll explore:

  • design considerations
  • carving methods
  • the effective registration system
  • printing techniques unique to mokuhanga.

The course is suitable for beginners as well as experienced artists, printmakers, and anyone with an interest in Japanese art and craft traditions.
