Immerse yourself in Auckland Libraries Heritage Collections with our Piringatahi | Heritage Collections Up Close sessions.

‘God Defend New Zealand’ is one of our most powerful symbols of national identity. Auckland Libraries Heritage Collections holds the original manuscript, lyrics and Maori Translation, which are listed on the New Zealand Memory of the World Register. Enthusiasm for a 'local' anthem existed side by side with passionate support for Britain and the royals which meant that several other national songs commonly sung were potential alternatives.

These Thursday afternoon sessions run right after the Notes on Tāmaki concert. It’s the perfect midday outing - live music and a rare opportunity to discover the remarkable stories held within our collections.

Notes on Tāmaki concerts: 12.10pm-1pm
Piringatahi: 2pm-3 pm

All welcome | Bookings required.
