About the authors and chair:
Chris Blake was born and raised in Auckland. He served briefly in the New Zealand Army's Reserve Force before joining the New Zealand Police in 2006. His debut novel, The Sound of Her Voice (published under the pseudonym Nathan Blackwell), was a double finalist in the 2018 Ngaio Marsh Awards for best novel and best first novel. Chris was an assistant storyboarder for season two of the crime drama television series, The Gulf, released in 2021.
Nalini Singh is the New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and international bestselling author of the iconic Psy-Changeling and Guild Hunter series of paranormal romances.
She also writes atmospheric New Zealand-set thrillers and has been shortlisted for the Ngaio Marsh Awards. Two of her thrillers have been optioned for television adaptation.

Former doctor Fiona Sussman is an award-winning novelist and short-story writer published internationally. Her work, which spans historical, contemporary and crime fiction, has won a number of awards, including Ngaio Marsh Award for Best Crime Novel, Sunday Star Times Short Story Award and NZ Booklovers Award for Best Adult Fiction. Her thriller, The Doctor’s Wife, was a We Read Auckland Bestie title and Auckland Council Libraries’ most borrowed book for 2023. Her latest novel, Hooked Up, is the second book in the Bandara Stark series. Fiona is active as a teacher of creative writing and a mentor to other writers.
