Comics are often thought of as fantastical, but they’re great for telling real-life stories too. They can be serious, funny, political or personal – or a combination of all those things!
Join award-winning comic artist and writer Toby Morris for a hands-on workshop where he’ll discuss different types of non-fiction comics and why they work so well, then guide you through writing and illustrating your very own one-page comic.
This workshop is suitable for ages 13 - 18 years old.
About the artist:
Toby Morris is an Auckland-based comic artist, writer and illustrator best known for documentary comics, picture books and communicating complicated ideas through illustration. He is a three-time winner of Best Cartoonist at the New Zealand Media Awards for his documentary comic series The Side Eye on The Spinoff, and his books for adults and children include Te Tiriti O Waitangi, Dad Man Walking, Capsicum Capsi Go, and Pūkeko Who-keko.

Just bring yourself - we will provide drawing materials and some snacks!
