Auckland has a proud heritage as the City of Sails, shaped by generations of boatbuilders, sailors and shipyards.
This free workshop invites the next generation of creators to build their very own wooden toy boat. Using pre-cut plywood and solid timber pieces, children will learn simple assembly skills using PVA glue.
All materials are supplied and children must be accompanied by an adult as they bring their mini vessels to life. Building of boats is a craft which pre-dates christ. This event is being held in the P.Vos shed which is the last remaining original Auckland waterfront boat building shed, lovingly restored by council with money from the built heritage fund and parts of it are heritage listed.
