Response 152 Painted Heirlooms Painting Workshop

What does your family cook when everyone comes home? For most of us, there’s a dish that holds the answer, passed down not through cookbooks but through memory, smell and watching someone else’s hands. It tastes like belonging.

Painted Heirlooms is an exhibition and hands-on workshop by Auckland artist Amreen Manjiyani, whose work exploring food as cultural memory has been shown internationally.

Come and see the exhibition. Then pick up a brush. Paint the key ingredients of a recipe that means something to you - a family dish, a cultural staple, a taste of home onto a hand-illustrated recipe card and take it home. No art experience needed.

Auckland is one of the most beautifully diverse food cities in the world. This is your chance to paint your small, delicious piece of it.
