Mercury Lane entrance for Karangahape Station
The Mercury Lane entrance to the City Rail Link's Karangahape Station will be built first, allowing a second station to be built at Beresford Square once the rail link is operational.

Auckland Transport will build the Mercury Lane entrance of the City Rail Link’s Karangahape Station first, with future proofing for a second entrance at Beresford Square. A shaft under Pitt Street to Beresford Square will be constructed at the same time as the Mercury Lane entrance is built.

The Mercury Lane entrance was given priority because the Beresford Square site can be built after the CRL is operational while a likely lack of construction space around Mercury Lane would make building an entrance there much more difficult after the CRL opens.

The Mercury Lane entrance will provide opportunities for development around Karangahape Road, and is likely to be a catalyst for the continuing regeneration of the area.
