Stop thief

In parts of Auckland, break-ins are occurring every other day from vehicles parked in car parks, streets and driveways.

To help prevent this happening to you, your family and friends, we recommend the following:

  • Lock your vehicle.
  • If possible, get an alarm and immobiliser.
  • Take valuable items with you when you leave your vehicle.
  • If it’s difficult to take all these items with you, keep the items out of sight in your car.
  • In the event there is a break-in, contact the nearest police station.
  • If you see a break-in occurring and you have access to a phone, call the police immediately on 111.

Thanks for staying vigilant and looking out for yourself and your community!

Staff from Auckland Council’s new Community Empowerment Unit are working with Auckland Transport, the council parks team and the police to look at ways to reduce property theft from vehicles.
