Lysaght Building lights up GridAKL innovation precinct
The first permanent GridAKL building opens in December.

GridAKL is Auckland’s innovation precinct in Wynyard Quarter. It opened in 2014, and is entering an exciting new phase with the first permanent building in the precinct opening for business in late December 2015.

GridAKL is an Auckland Council initiative delivered by council-controlled organisation (CCO) Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED).

It brings businesses focusing on technology and digital media together, encouraging innovation through collaboration and networking.

Built in the 1920s, the Lysaght Building – located on the corner of Halsey and Pakenham Streets and owned by CCO Panuku Development Auckland – derives its name from the original tenant, the John Lysaght Steel Company.

The new Lysaght Building blends the heritage of the old Wynyard Quarter with modern ‘smart’ technology.

Networking and telecommunications giant and GridAKL foundation partner Huawei will be showcasing its world-leading communications technology in this and future GridAKL buildings.
