A review of Auckland Council’s available alternative sources of financing was released on 13 November 2015.

Councillors were briefed on the report earlier in the week, ahead of the document being made available online on 13 November.

“The council will make no decisions on its financing model, based purely on this review - it is important to be clear about that,” says Penny Webster, chair of the council’s Finance and Performance Committee.

“Staff will make no recommendations to the council based on the review, nor do the options presented within the review come weighted with a suggested course of action. They are purely for us to consider.

“The committee will consider the review during the 19 November meeting and decide what, if any, items it would like to see further work on.”

In August, Cameron Partners and EY were announced as the two independent advisory firms awarded the tender for the review.

The decision to go ahead with a review was made at the May 2015 Budget Committee meeting, where councillors agreed to undertake a review of council’s mix of financing sources.
