Auckland Council Building Control general manager Ian McCormick was in the spotlight again recently – as a proud recipient of a Building Officials Institute of New Zealand (BOINZ) award.
Over the past few months Ian’s been front and centre in the New Zealand media landscape in his pursuit to stamp out shoddy building activity, and the good work hasn’t gone unnoticed with his Contribution to Technical and Legislative Improvements Award.
“Ian’s been an absolute star in the industry and it’s rewarding to see his excellent work acknowledged,” says regulatory services director Penny Pirrit.
“The Building Officials Institute is highly respected within the building community, and this award showcases the positive and important strides he and his team are making in what is a challenging and highly-scrutinised environment.”
The impressive recognition reflects Ian’s crucial involvement in building control, and in particular his contribution to progressing the technical and legislative building standards.
BOINZ Awards
The BOINZ Excellence Awards celebrate the proud achievements for those involved in building control.
The institute has more than 1200 members who are engaged and active in improving the building standards across the region.
Ian’s also a member of MBIE’s (Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment) Building Advisory panel, as well as a member of the Building Research Advisory Council and the chair of the Metro Sector Group.
