Zoo Tales: Zoofari

Publish Date : 08 Jul 2016

We were delighted to welcome students from Oturu School who drove a whopping 300km from Kaitaia to Auckland to be part of The Warehouse Zoofari programme. Watch these animal-mad kids on their big Auckland Zoo adventure!

During their stay the students explored the Zoo, enjoyed a specially guided night walk, a sleep over in the Old Elephant House, and participated in structured interactive education sessions with zoo educators in the Te Wao Nui (New Zealand) precinct.

Auckland Zoo team leader for Schools Programmes, Laura Rayner says "in applying to be chosen for this year, Oturu students all wrote us incredibly compelling letters as to why they should be chosen and what they wanted to learn and why."

"These amazing young children are clearly passionate about animals and the environment and many of them have never been to the Zoo before, so it's fantastic that through the Warehouse Zoofari programme, we can offer them this unique and enriching experience to connect with and grow their love for wildlife," says Laura.
