The Lightpath, Auckland’s magnificent pink cycleway, features twice in the finals of this year’s New Zealand Geographic Photographer of the Year exhibition.

An aerial photograph by Alastair Jamieson and a timelapse by Steven Harrison are two of the images from around New Zealand vying for a prize in the competition.

See the finalists and vote for your favourites

An exhibition of the finalists is being held at Karanga Plaza, opposite the Viaduct Events Centre, from 8 October to 6 November (10am to 5pm daily).

You can vote for the People’s Choice Award at the exhibition or online.

Lightpath a worldwide hit

Te Ara I Whiti – The Lightpath was created in 2015 from the unused Nelson Street motorway off-ramp. Hundreds of cycle journeys are now made along the stunning pink path every day.

It has been featured in international media and is a finalist in the World Architecture Awards.
