New Network coming for west Auckland

On Sunday 11 June 2017, Auckland Transport is launching a new bus network for west Auckland including Helensville, Huapai and Kumeu. Everything is changing, including bus routes, route numbers, timetables and buses.

The new west Auckland bus network is part of a simpler, more integrated public transport network for Auckland.

Key facts

  • 45 bus routes are replacing 60 existing routes. The new ones will have greater frequency providing more bus operating hours
  • the hours of bus operation will increase by 32% and bus kilometres travelled will increase by 30%
  • the west will have over 400 bus drivers, driving 239 AT Metro buses (91 are new)
  • they will serve more than 1000 bus stops in west Auckland, including 170 new or relocated stops.

What will the new network mean for me?

  • more services, especially from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week
  • buses at least every 15 minutes between New Lynn and the city centre as well as between Westgate, Henderson, and New Lynn
  • frequent connections to other destinations such as Waitakere Hospital, Auckland Zoo and MOTAT
  • more trips on weekends
  • improved late-night services
  • all-day direct services from Westgate to the city centre via the Northwestern Motorway
  • peak express services to the city centre from Helensville, Westgate, Te Atatu Peninsula, and Henderson via Te Atatu Rd, New Lynn, Glen Eden, and Titirangi.
