Auckland Live has launched an Accessibility Virtual Tour (AVT) of Auckland Town Hall to help audiences with accessibility needs become familiar with the venue before visiting.
Take the Accessibility Virtual Tour of Auckland Town Hall
The AVT is built around 3D images of the town hall’s interior. It begins in the foyer, where virtual visitors can navigate wheelchair and mobility impaired pathways to seating in the Great Hall and Chamber Concert.
Features include step counts, information about elevator access, floor plans, and routes to the box office, toilets and bar.
Auckland Live director Robbie Macrae says the digital initiative highlights the organisation’s commitment to promote and support inclusiveness and access to the arts for all.
“The enhanced accessibility allows more Aucklanders to enjoy the town hall and the live arts experience,” he says.
Accessibility Virtual Tours will be launched for The Civic, Aotea Centre and Bruce Mason Centre in 2018.
