Families looking for a quick dip this summer will benefit from the improvements currently being made to the paddling pool at Grey Lynn Park. Perimeter fencing will be replaced, and the pool and associated buildings will be repainted.
Waitematā Local Board parks, sports and recreation portfolio lead and deputy chair Shale Chambers says the Grey Lynn Paddling Pool is popular with parents and children looking to cool off over summer.
“It’s great to see improvements underway at what is one of Waitematā’s most popular swimming spots for families,” he says.
Paddling pool open from early December
The Grey Lynn Paddling Pool is free, located near the Grosvenor Street entrance to Grey Lynn Park. Open from 11am to 6pm each day from early December to mid-March (closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day), the paddling pool is covered by shade sails and has a trained lifeguard on duty.
While the improvements are weather-dependent, they are expected to be complete by early December.
