A team of furry friends at the Henderson Animal Shelter have found themselves in the spotlight thanks to a new modelling gig with The Warehouse.
The adorable dogs can be seen modelling the retailer’s new pet accessories and treats range in a campaign that hopes to bring awareness to animal adoption in the lead up to International Dog Day.
The Warehouse approached Auckland Animal Shelter to be involved in the shoot and soon had a pack of four-legged friends ready to pout and pant at the camera to their doggy heart’s content.
“I was delighted by the initiative and just how much fun the dogs had,” says Louise Palmer, Henderson Animal Shelter Team Leader.
“We wanted to feature our dogs that are looking for homes, along with some of our younger pups.”
“They did great. It was the humans who were getting distracted rather than the dogs!”
“It was funny to see how the different dogs dealt with the filming – some were natural models, while others were more interested in all the treats and cuddles than putting on their camera-ready faces!”
The Warehouse shot the photos in the shelter’s ‘Teeny Tots’ room and enrichment yards, with the pooches going wild for their new toys and snazzy accessories.
Krystal Spicer from The Warehouse says she originally thought of approaching Auckland Animal Shelters because “so many of us here are animal lovers and wanted to do something extra special this year to help find homes for animals that need them most.”
“We couldn’t have found a more adorable group of pups for this campaign. We hope, through the power of social media, we can bring awareness to adoption and help find these animals new homes.”
The Warehouse donated all the products used in the shoot to the shelter and are linking to Auckland Animal Shelters adoption pages as part of their campaign.
“It was a wonderful day and a great way of raising awareness,” Louise says. “Not everyone knows about these dogs that are available for adoption at the shelters.”
“We want people to know and stop by to meet the dogs – even just for a cuddle!”
