Auckland Transport proposes changes to property fee structure

Publish Date : 12 Nov 2020

Auckland Transport (AT) is seeking feedback on proposed changes to the fee structure for processing property-related applications it is responsible for.

The current fees have not changed since AT was formed 10 years ago and the proposed changes will add more transparency to the process.

Recent customer feedback showed that AT’s current fee structure and invoicing process did not provide a clear framework on fees for property-related applications processed by the Technical Property Services Team.

The proposed fee structure will be in line with other Auckland Council charges and includes a wider range of services.

Jane Small, AT’s Group Manager of Property and Planning says AT is continually making improvements to its application processes.

“The new fee structure will provide clarity and transparency for customers when it comes to fees. The Cancellation of Building Line Restriction and Removal of Limitations as to Parcels application fees are proposed to increase from $200 to $500 per record of title/property.

"In addition, the deposit fee for applications for encroachment into the road corridor is proposed to increase relative to the type and complexity of the proposed encroachment. This ranges from $1500 to $2500 and staff time beyond the deposit can be charged where the deposit is exceeded.”

The changes allow people to book pre-application meetings with the technical property services staff to cover complex issues related to their application.

These proposed changes follow recent changes made in the building line restriction cancellation process. This benefited from an automation review that streamlined the process and now provides a clear timeframe for customers.
