There's a huge range of activities to do throughout summer across Auckland.

From discovering amazing wildlife at Auckland Zoo and exploring new exhibitions at the region's galleries to uncovering the past at museums, there's something for every member of the family.

Auckland Zoo

Embark on a wildlife experience through South East Asia right here in Auckland. Spot orangutans and siamangs, Sumatran tigers, Asian small-clawed otters, crocodiles and more.

Visit the Auckland Zoo website.

Open every day from 9.30am-5.30pm (last entry at 4.30pm) except Christmas.

Auckland War Memorial Museum

It's a LEGO® extravaganza this summer holidays at Auckland Museum.

Start with the unmissable Brickman Awesome: Epic LEGO® Creations exhibition, on now. Pick up a Brickman Awesome Treasure Hunt map from the South Atrium and follow the clues around the Museum to discover LEGO® masquerading as Museum objects and be in to win an epic LEGO® prize pack. Make, play and learn at the building stations.

Auckland Art Gallery

The Toi Toi Ora: Contemporary Māori Art exhibition is the largest ever staged by Auckland Art Gallery. It offers insights into the development of contemporary Māori art informed by a Māori worldview and is free to the public.

In the heart of Britomart, the satellite show of Auckland Art Gallery’s renowned Toi Toi ora will be on and includes 300 works by more than 120 Māori artists.

MOTAT has two new exhibitions on display; Snapped! Summer Holidays in Aotearoa, a photography exhibition showcasing summer holiday snaps from the 1920s to the 60s, and Science Fiction Science Future, a fun and interactive exploration of science concepts we once thought were only possible in science fiction.

Both exhibitions are free with general admission ticketing to MOTAT.

In January, the school holiday programme Under a Distant Sun challenges children to explore the science and technology that could help us live on different planets.

February sees the return of two of MOTAT’s most popular events, Anti-Valentine’s Day (13 Feb) and Fire & Emergency live day (21 Feb).

Keep the kids entertained this summer at Stardome’s Summer Holiday programme – book one of the popular digital planetarium shows, followed by live science experiments and rocket launches with the astronomy team.
