Nominees honoured at the Community Volunteer Awards 2018

Puketāpapa Local Board is seeking nominations for its three-yearly Community Volunteer Awards.

“Volunteers help make the world go around and are absolutely vital to so many of the great things that happen in our community; from tree planting to youth work to community meals and much more,” says Puketāpapa Local Board Chair Julie Fairey.

“We are looking forward to recognising the mahi that makes a real difference to our people and our places.”

This time the local board is partnering with the Puketāpapa Youth Foundation, a group of local young people aged 14 to 24 who ensure the local board gets youth input to their decisions. Check out their facebook page here

While community groups and organisations will not be considered as eligible; members from these groups or organisations will be recognised for their individual efforts as nominated volunteers.  For further information please check the full details on the nomination form here.

Nomination criteria

There are no specific categories for these awards, as the local board and Youth Foundation are keen to recognise volunteers across the wide range of local activities.

The nominee’s volunteer work could be in education; arts, culture and heritage; economic development; environment and sustainability; social and community development; health; sport, fitness and leisure; or other areas not on this list.

“We are particularly interested in acknowledging those who have supported our community during the challenges of Covid 19 in 2020 and this year,” said Fairey.
