More than $16,000 has been awarded to community organisations in Papakura Local Board grants.

Art groups, an organisation that trains mobility dogs, sports and community education providers were all supported.

Acting local board chair Jan Robinson says it was disappointing to have to turn some groups away, but others were encouraged to apply to later funding rounds.

“It is always a challenge to make our dollars go as far as they can. Not being successful in this funding round does not mean a group shouldn’t apply again in the future.”
