Apply for a grant from Hibiscus and Bays Local Board

Community groups and organisations wanting to deliver projects and events in the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board area have until 12 April to apply for funding.

Local Board Chair Gary Brown says grants can be used for sport and recreation, environment, heritage, arts, events and community projects and this is the final round for the 2023/2024 grants programme.

“It’s a privilege to support projects that change peoples’ lives and see first-hand the difference that grants make in our community.
“Our aim is to match grants funding to our local board plan priorities and deliver good community outcomes.

“Grants rounds are typically over-subscribed, so we try to partly fund projects as a catalyst for groups to obtain the rest of the funds they need to be able to deliver a programme,” Brown says.

Also open are facilities and multi-board grants. Facilities grants provide funding to assist with the costs of planning or developing a facility within the local board area. The grants can be used for needs assessments, feasibility studies, investigation and design costs, and small building works.

Multi-board grants assist with the costs of projects and events that benefit communities in the local board area and funding is provided in collaboration with other local boards.

Thirty-six community organisations received $115,450 in the first round of the grants programme. A full list of grant recipients can be found in the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board meeting minutes for October 2023.

Brown says, “We see the difference that grants can make in our community and it’s great to be able to support as many groups as we can.”

Applicants can apply for a local grant between $2,000 and $10,000 and for a facilities grant of up $50,000 by completing an online application form at aucklandcouncil.govt.nz

Grant decisions will be made at the local board business meeting on 28 May and projects must start after 1 June.
