- Annalong Park playground is open following a $158,000 refresh
- The upgrade began in March and opened in April

Annalong Park playground in Dannemora is open and ready to enjoy!
The previous playground was a simple setup with just swings, a slide, and a climbing frame.

New look.
For safety, parts of the park were closed during the work due to construction machinery and the installation of new equipment.
With $158,000 funding from the Howick Local Board, the playground upgrade began in early March 2025 and was finished just in time for the Term 1 school holidays.

Board chair Damian Light says, “We know local playgrounds are important to our communities and it’s great to see Annalong Park get the upgrade it needed. We hope local whānau enjoy the improvements!”
What’s new?
- a brand-new play experience featuring a massive climbing structure
- a twisting tube slide
- added a spinning circle
- swing set
- and to top it off, a fresh concrete pathway that connects directly to the basketball court.
In late 2024, the board asked the community for feedback on the future of playgrounds in the Howick area. The consultation closed in early February 2025 and received great responses.
Chair Light is glad to see playgrounds getting the attention they deserve and says it's a big focus for the board moving forward.
“Thank you again to everyone who provided their input into the future of our playgrounds. We’re using your feedback to help shape a strategy that will enable us to deliver the play opportunities that our communities need, within our constrained budget,” says Light.
