What was once a basic play space with hardly anything to do, Rock Daisy Crescent Reserve in Māngere has now been completely transformed into a fun, safe, and welcoming space for local families.
Thanks to the support and funding from the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board and iwi Te Akitai o Waiohua, the playground has undergone a major upgrade, bringing more life and energy to this corner of the community.
With an investment of $218,277, the board not only delivered on its plan, but the project was also completed a full year ahead of schedule.

Rock Daisy proudly includes a sign language board, promoting inclusivity.
Board chair Tauanu’u Nick Bakulich says, “This is a wonderful addition in amongst the suburb of Māngere where children and their families won’t have to travel far. The board is pleased to see this new asset delivered with the help of Te Akitai o Waiohua who helped shape the design through storytelling.
“In a growing urban area like Māngere-Ōtāhuhu, quality green spaces are more important than ever. This project reflects our commitment to improving parks across the area.”
Open to the public end of April 2025, the new playground now offers something for everyone.
