  • Three new bike shelters will be installed later this year.
  • The locations are at Pt Chevalier, Mt Albert and Kingsland.

  • All shelters are near key cycling infrastructure.

Safe, dry and secure new bike shelters are coming to Mt Albert, Pt Chevalier and Kingsland thanks to the Albert-Eden Local Board.

The board has funded three new shelters at easily accessible locations for the community.

Chair Kendyl Smith says the shelters enable sustainable and alternative modes of transport.

“Albert-Eden is serviced by effective public transport options, as well as strong cycling links, such as the Waterview Shared Path.  The three new bike shelters will make it easier for cyclists to store their bikes, and to bike as a mode of transport.
“This work was made possible by Kingsland’s The Fringe Business Improvement District (BID) and also Auckland Transport’s local engagement to determine the best locations for these shelters in Albert-Eden.”

The new shelters will be located close to key public transport links or near key cycling infrastructure.

The shelters will be installed at these locations:

  • Phyllis Reserve (part of the Waterview Shared Path)
  • 8 Huia Road (outside Woolworths, Pt Chevalier)
  • 430 New North Road, Kingsland Car Park (Near Kingsland train station)

Work on the new shelters is expected to start in July, and should be completed by the end of September.
